Ducks and Bunnies

A few months ago I found a super cute idea online to make a toy duck.  Go to:

I adapted their idea and made 2 ducks and 2 bunnies.

I added wispy “feathers” to the ducks heads, and for the bunnies they had tails, ears and whiskers.

Lessons learned: Blue eyed, white bunnies, are kinda creepy looking.

I found the eyes the most challenging part of this crafting adventure.

Getting Hooked

My Grandma learned to Crochet when she was five, from her Aunt. I learned to Crochet when I was 22 from Grandma. She taught me the basics of a “Granny Square”.

You Will Need: 021

  • Crochet Hook
  • Yarn
  • Darning Needle
  • Scissors

Handy To Have:

  • Pattern/ Plan
  • Good Lighting
  • Time
  • Patients
  • The Right Mood

My first attempts where discouraging. Holding the hook is hard, as is getting the right tension with the yarn and making a “square” actually square. I put it down and didn’t attempt it for a while. After another visit with Grandma I tried again. And again. And again. Finally I started to get the hang of it!

This is my first completed crocheted work. It took many many many hours to make. (Years perhaps. As I stopped and started a lot.) My sister the “Excel Wiz”, helped me plan it in excel. This is the biggest blanket I have ever made. I once worked it out that my hands had travelled over 3 km (1.86 miles) of yarn to make this. That’s not including pulling it out and fixing mistakes!280[7]

It grew into a monster under taking. But turned out pretty fabulous if I do say so myself.

And needless to say I’m Hooked!

This is a Sample Post about an Eraser Dragon

This is a sample post –

I’m trying out Windows LIve Writer, to see how to blog with it.  This is kind of interesting, and makes it easier for me to post!

251I’ve put a picture here to test it out.  This text should be on the one side of the picture!  I made this eraser dragon!
